“My mother was driving and a building collapsed on her catering truck, but she feels blessed that she is alive.”

Just 2 years ago, Demo Plus was in the news with headlines like: “Wall Collapses onto Car in Downtown Nashville: Woman injured.” The injured woman’s lawsuit alleged that Demo Plus “negligently, recklessly, and carelessly pulled down an interior wall, causing the exterior wall adjacent to fall outwards.” This exterior wall fell into the street, crushing her vehicle and resulting in a road shutdown. She was taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. News outlets reported her family saying:

“My mother was driving and a building collapsed on her catering truck, but she feels blessed that she is alive.”

Not only did this collapse leave the victim injured, the vehicle for her catering company was destroyed. Moreover, the impact of the wall collapse incident affected nearby electrical service and left over 1,600 people in Nashville without power.

“I realize how close to death I was working for Demo Plus.”

Some Demo Plus workers have been injured on the job, too. One such worker said: “I realize how close to death I was working for Demo Plus.”

State safety inspectors claimed that four Demo Plus workers were exposed to asbestos and the company had no record of providing hazardous chemical training. Many workers, when asked, were unaware of hazard communication. A follow up investigation gave Demo Plus a 2.4 out of 4: “Weak Health and Safety Program” and found nothing had been corrected.
